Biography

Who I Am

I am Nisha Timilsena, a public health professional from Nepal with a deep commitment to community health, health promotion, and evidence-based public health practice. My work spans government health systems, international development contexts, and grassroots community engagement.

Raised with an understanding of Nepal's diverse health challenges from remote rural access barriers to urban health inequities. I have dedicated my career to bridging the gap between policy and community needs. I believe that sustainable health outcomes are achieved when communities are active partners in their own health journey.

Through my experience with the Health Office Bajura, the UN World Food Programme, and various volunteer initiatives, I have developed expertise in program design, community mobilization, health education, and research-oriented practice.

Mission

To advance health equity in Nepal by strengthening community health systems, promoting evidence-based health practices, and empowering communities, especially youth and underserved populations to lead their own health transformation.

Vision

A Nepal where every individual, regardless of geography or socioeconomic status, has equitable access to quality health services, health information, and the opportunity to participate in decisions affecting their wellbeing.

Approach

Professional Philosophy

My approach to public health is grounded in three interconnected principles:

  • Evidence before action : Every intervention must be informed by credible data, research, and contextual understanding before implementation.
  • Community as partner : Sustainable health outcomes require genuine community ownership, not top-down delivery alone.
  • Ethical leadership : Public health practice demands integrity, transparency, and accountability to the communities we serve.

I strive to integrate research rigor with practical field experience, ensuring that my work contributes meaningfully to both immediate community needs and long-term health system strengthening.
